A UNIQUE CHARITY PROJECT
The problem of hunger in Israel has motivated many good people to establish organizations that collect and distribute food to the poor. The Hemed Feeding Israel project follows a unique approach that combines contribution to society with an educational activity that encourages school children to adopt values of generosity and leadership skills that will accompany them for their entire lives.
The Hemed Feeding Israel project was launched in 2013 by the Hemed Friends' Association and is entirely based on the volunteer work of the school children themselves, who are responsible for collecting and packaging the food items. Thanks to their efforts, this food reaches the homes of families who so desperately need it. Beyond the important values that this project imparts to the students involved, Hemed Feeding Israel raises the children’s awareness of their ability to stimulate change that has a significant impact on their environment and community – change that would not have taken place without them.
We envision a community in which every student is aware of the concept of food security and is involved in the Hemed Feeding Israel program, seeking to provide sufficient nutritious food for everyone in Israel.
The goal of the Hemed Feeding Israel program is to raise awareness among school children of the gaps in Israeli society, encourage community involvement while emphasizing the ability of every student to prompt significant change in the community.
